Vancouver, December 3rd, 2024 – SkyScout Ai Innovations Inc., a leading developer of advanced drone technology for wildfire mitigation, is proud to announce that Murray Rankin, KC, has joined as a member of its advisory board.
As the former Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation and Attorney General for the Province of British Columbia, Rankin brings a wealth of expertise in environmental regulations and government affairs to SkyScout. Over his distinguished career, Rankin also held the position of Chair of Canada’s National Security and Intelligence Review Agency, overseeing all national security and intelligence activities for the Government of Canada.
Rankin retired from politics in November 2024 after a successful political career in which he played a key role in the government of British Columbia. He has been a strong advocate for the development of new technologies to mitigate the growing threat of wildfires and their environmental impacts.

Rankin was a professor of environmental and administrative law at the University of Victoria. During this period, he helped develop groups such as the West Coast Environmental Law Association and the BC Public Interest Advocacy Centre. More recently, he served as community co-chair of the Environmental Law Centre at the University of Victoria, a student-run legal clinic doing public interest work in environmental law.
